The list of aphrodisiacs that have no effect or are dangerous is endless. Three examples:
A popular love potion with Chinese men was powder made from the horn of the rhino, possibly because the horn made them think of a firm erection. This substance however has no effect.
Spanish fly is not just dangerous, but can be life threatening. It’s made from small blistering beetles and contains a substance (cantharis) that can be deadly even in small amounts. It can also cause priapism. Never use it!
Alcohol has been used as aphrodisiac. It may make you feel sexier and less inhibited, but only in limited amounts. If you for instance drink too much it stops being a stimulant and becomes a depressant. If guys take too much it will work against their erectile powers. Shakespeare already observed that “it provokes desire, but takes away the performance.” So be warned.
