I’m a man of 26 and I have large breasts, almost like a woman. Can
I do anything about it? Gynaecomastia
is a common condition of guys in their teens. Normally the breast enlargement
disappears after a few months to 2 years. But in exceptional cases this does not
happen. Breast-reduction surgery can help. The surgeon can remove fat by liposuction
or remove glandular tissue by excision or use a combination. When you are obese
is probably better first to try to get rid of the problem by weight loss and exercise.
Enlarged breast tissue with men can also be caused by smoking marijuana or/and
the use of anabolic steroids. Stopping its use may reverse the breast enlargement.
But if you have a normal posture and don’t use drugs surgery is an option. There
are risks involved, as is the case with all surgery. Sometimes the procedure results
in scar tissue, permanent pigment changes or mismatched breasts and nipples. But
in general complications are infrequent and usually minor if it is done by a competent
surgeon.
