If the doctor takes away just a little bit the glans will remain partly covered. Only when the penis becomes erect will the glans be totally exposed. If your boyfriend masturbates by rolling the foreskin over the glans he can still do this. But the doctor can also remove a lot of skin, the glans being exposed even if the penis is limp. Another difference is whether it’s mainly the outer layer of the foreskin (the foreskin that is visible) that is removed or the inner layer (the foreskin that on the inside, against the glans). A third choice is how much of the frenulum will be removed. So he should get some information beforehand to know what he wants.
