Don’t
use instruments that are rough at the edges. The anus
and rectum are delicate and can easily be damaged.
To prevent STD’s never
use the instrument of another person.
Don’t use enemas too often. You may disrupt the intestinal flora, increasing the
risk of infections.
Don’t introduce a lot of water at once. This may lead to cramping. A safe amount
is between one and two quarts of water. For most people the maximum is 4 quarts.
Shower attachment enemas can be dangerous because it’s hard to control the amount
of water you insert and the temperature of the water. So be careful.
Don’t use water that is too hot. A good temperature is between 99 and 102 degrees
Fahrenheit. Don’t add soap, chemicals or alcohol, for that will injure the mucous
membrane of the intestines.
When you become dizzy or feel bad you should stop.
Clean the enema afterwards with chlorinated water.
