The
frenulum can be short or even too short. ·
As long as the foreskin
can retract behind your glans
you don’t have to expect any difficulties when you make love. ·
When it is rather short you may
feel some tension during intercourse
and afterwards the frenulum might feel somewhat bruised. ·
If your foreskin cannot be retracted
because the frenulum is too short, it is difficult to clean the glans. Smegma
from the glans and foreskin becomes an unpleasant, unhealthy and bad-smelling
substance, increasing the risk of infections. It can also cause problems during
intercourse. When you masturbate
pain can be avoided by keeping the foreskin in a forward position. But during
intercourse the foreskin might be forced back, causing pain. The frenulum can
easily rip, often bleeding excessively. · If
your frenulum is too short, this can only be solved by an operation in which an
urologist lengthens the ligament. This is done by a series of small cuts, which
are stitched together forming a straight line. It’s a minor operation that’s always
successful.
