I have to
bleed on my wedding night. But does that always happen? I’m still a virgin.
A
minority of the women bleed the first
time they have intercourse.
So don’t expect this to happen. In many cultures the blood stained bed sheet are
seen as proof of prior virginity. But this is not a reliable indicator. There’s
only blood if the hymen tears. But there are women who have no hymen to begin
with, women whose hymen is torn in childhood and women whose hymen only tears
with childbirth. Also it’s good to know that a hymen may not bleed when broken.
Given these facts it’s sad that women all over the world are still expected to
bleed as sign that they are pure. In cultures where blood is expected women have
resorted to various tricks, like use of a sponge with animal blood hidden in their
vagina or cutting
themselves. This fraud is one of the reasons the myth continues and many people
still think that a virgin always bleeds when her cherry is popped. So it’s good
that you think about this issue beforehand and decide how you will handle it.
