Incest is sex between family members. This term is normally used for sexual abuse by a family member.
In most cases the perpetrator is male, for instance the father, brother, uncle or grand father. But it can also be the mother, grandmother, sister or an aunt. Both girls and guys can fall victim to sexual abuse by family members.
The perpetrator forces the victim to perform or endure sexual actions. Sometimes physical force is used, but more often the offender uses his/her natural authority, making it almost impossible for the victim to refuse.
This sexual abuse may happen once, but often it goes on for years before anyone finds out and is willing to help.
It often starts with small things, like a caress that’s too intimate, and grows from bad to worse.
