Oxytocin
is a hormone that
plays an important role in attachment, bonding, orgasm
and reproduction.
Researchers think this hormone might be released by touch, helping
you feel connected with others. That’s why it’s known as the ‘cuddle
hormone.’ When lovers touch each other oxytocin is released,
promoting the desire to touch: a feedback loop that can have wonderful results.
Oxytocin
stimulates muscle contraction at birth and milk production once the baby is born.
The act of nursing (nipple stimulation) leads to further release of oxytocin,
causing mother and child to bond.
Just
before and after orgasm the body releases a large amount of oxytocin.
This is probably one of the reasons why orgasm feels so good. The higher the amount
of oxytocin, the more intense the orgasm proves to be.
