The string
came off when I tried to pull the tampon out. I’m scared, what should
I do?
There is no need to panic. The tampon cannot get lost,
because the opening in the cervix
is extremely narrow, just big enough to let semen
and menstrual blood pass. The vagina
is not that long, so you’ll get it out. The best way to do it is to
squat with your legs apart. Try to relax the muscles around your vaginal
opening and keep breathing normally. You can also make a pushing motion,
comparable to what you do when you have to pee very fast. Wet your index
finger with saliva and put it inside the vagina. You can probably feel
the tampon. Try to get past it with your finger, all the way up so you
can hook your finger around de top, pushing it down and out. Another
possibility is to insert both your index and middle finger and grasp
the tampon between your fingers, tugging it out. If you cannot get it
out by yourself ask your mother, sister or a girlfriend for help.
