Trichomonas
is a widespread STD,
mainly affecting women from their teens to their thirties. You get it
by having unsafe sex, but possibly also by a shared towel. It’s not
really serious, but can be uncomfortable. It’s often seen in conjunction
with gonorrhea
and chlamydia.
The
first symptoms may appear a few hours after exposure, but this can also
take six months. Many guys don’t have any symptoms.
With
girls typical symptoms are a foul smelling,
bubbly yellow, green or grey discharge from the vagina,
itching and red inner lips
and a frequent urge to urinate. It can resemble a yeast
infection. Intercourse is often painful.
Guys,
when symptoms are present, usually also have a frequent urge to urinate,
while peeing may be painful. There may also be a discharge from the
penis.
It’s
treatable with antibiotics.
