The
uterus is part of the female internal genitals: the place where a fertilized
egg is embedded and grows into a child.
This
muscular organ is pear shaped, 7-10 cm long (3
inches) and 5 cm wide (2 inches).
The
uterus is held in place by six ligaments and the position of the uterus
varies from girl to girl, in 25% it is tipped backward and in 10% it is
tipped forward.
The
inside of the uterus is not hollow, the sides touching one another. Like
the vagina
it is not actual, but potential space. The lining is richly supplied with
glands and blood vessels.
At
the bottom the cervix
connects the uterus with the vagina, with the cervix protruding into the
vagina. At the top the uterus is connected with the fallopian
tubes, where fertilization takes place.
Its
main function is to receive and feed the fertilized egg cell.

happens to the uterus when you get excited?
