If
you want to look what’s hidden between your inner lips
you need a mirror:
If
you look at your vulva
with a mirror you can easily spot the vaginal entrance if you tighten
and then relax the muscles
around the entrance. These are the same muscles that control the
urine flow. Try to find them while you’re peeing: stop the flow and
notice which muscles flex.
Around
the vaginal opening there can be a small piece of tissue. This is called
the hymen.
Some assume the hymen is a membrane that covers the whole entrance,
but that’s not the
case.
The shape of this small piece of tissue can change. Some of this occurs
naturally during the first years of life, but this can also happen later
with tampon
use, masturbation,
intercourse
or the birth of a child.
