Many
girls are bothered by a vaginal infection now and then.
Common
symptoms are excessive vaginal discharge, which may smell badly or have
a different colour than usual, swollen vaginal
lips, which may be red and itchy, having to urinate more often than
normal and an irritated and painful vagina.
Vaginal
infections may be caused by Chlamydia,
Gardnerella,
Trichomonas
and Candida.
It
may be hard to distinguish between an innocent infection and a STD:
the symptoms are similar. Some innocent vaginal infections disappear by
themselves, but if you have a STD you need treatment. The kind of treatment
depends on the cause. If you had unsafe sex you should go to your doctor
for diagnosis!
If
you are in a steady relationship and don’t use condoms
get diagnosed and treated at the same time to avoid the ping
pong effect.
How
do you get it?
